Teen killed trying to scam 10 bucks in crack
I saw this story yesterday and it was a story about a grotesque death of a teen crushed by a train. Today the story continues and gets more twisted as we find out what happened on the train platform. City teen Gage Prevost was killed because an attempt to trick a homeless crackhead out of $10 backfired, said the defence counsel in the second-degree murder case against Natalie Rochelle Pasqua yesterday. During cross-examination of Cody Vieira, a witness and friend of the victim, defence lawyer Andre Ouellette argued the altercation — which ended when Prevost was crushed to death by a C-Train car Aug. 1, 2007, at the 8 St. LRT station — erupted because Prevost led Pasqua to believe he could supply her with crack cocaine. But when Pasqua handed Prevost $10, she got one gram of marijuana instead. “He made her under the impression that what he had was crack because that’s what she wanted,” said Vieira. When Pasqua realized she wasn’t getting cocaine, she allegedly grabbed the $10 and the struggle ensued. But Vieira maintained Prevost was only fighting in self-defence and that Pasqua was the aggressor throughout the entire ordeal. “It wasn’t like he wanted to fight — he wanted his money back and when it got aggressive, he got defensive.” But under cross-examination, Vieira admitted he, Prevost, Calyla Brennen and Courtney Lane had been drinking and smoking pot before the fight and that Prevost had drunk the majority of their beer. He also conceded that Prevost, like Pasqua, had the opportunity to back down and avoid the altercation. The jury heard the scuffle between Pasqua and Prevost was swift, but that both did an equal amount of shoving, said witness Nicholas Janzen. Janzen, who was on his way home from his downtown job as a network security specialist, said he saw Prevost shove Pasqua off the platform as the train slowly moved to the platform. “Then the next thing I heard was a big bang from the train … the female pushing the male against the aluminium side of the moving train,” he said. “They turned a little bit and then she got pushed against the train.” He said they spun around one final time, causing Prevost to fall in between cars and get crushed between the moving train and the platform. The trial resumes Tuesday. Post a comment
