Metro actually reported this story where the locals had this to say… “Around here, if someone commits a crime they are jailed,” Gomez said - “no matter who they are.” The donkey’s owner is Mauro Gutierrez and the donkey inmate will be in his new accommodations in the jail until Mr. Guitierrez pays some medical bills to the donkey’s victim. Seems the donkey bit victim, Mr. Vazquez then kicked another man who came to his rescue. The police in that region have jailed animals in the past including a bull that stole some corn and a dog that bit someone. Seems Chiapas is an equal opportunity jailer treating everyone the same no matter what species you may be.
POLICE broke into a flat to check who lived there 42 years after its owner was reported missing - and found the mummified remains of the woman sitting in front of her TV. Croatian police say Hedviga Golik, who was born in 1924, had apparently made herself a cuppa and sat down to watch her black-and-white television before she died. Officers believe that would have been in 1966, when she was last seen by neighbours. They said one day she seemed to have just disappeared and they thought she had moved to the capital Zagreb. But they found her remains in the tiny 13sq m flat after breaking in with bailiffs. A police spokesman said: “So far we have no idea how it is possible that someone officially reported missing so long ago was not found before in the same apartment she used to live in.”

NEW YORK (CBS) ? There are about 45,000 cab drivers on the streets of New York City, but it’s those rude few that make a very lasting impression. One driver was recently fined $1,000 and suspended for cursing. CBS 2 HD has learned the details on what’s being done to make sure your next ride is a pleasant one. Getting a cab ride in Gotham can be interesting to say the least. Just ask its residents. “I think they drive like maniacs,” said Irene Bremis of Greenwich Village. “More than once I feel like I have almost died because the driver is like, ‘Blah, blah, blah …’” Jackson Heights resident Carolyn Kaylor said. “They come off with a real harsh attitude and you’re like let me just get to my location and leave,” Canarsie’s Jean Pyronneau said.
Who needs TV ads when we have printable condoms
Actually, this probably is brilliant because I can’t believe anyone would forget the message nor the way it was delivered… just sick shit. “We felt the condom would appeal to the target audience and hopefully encourage them to think about the RAF Regiment in a different way rather than just at face value,” I see… LONDON, May 14 (UPI) — The Royal Air Force is using instructions on the many uses of condoms as a tactic to lure young British men to sign up for the RAF Regiment. A total of 20,000 prophylactics are being mailed in a recruitment drive, The Sun reports. They’re mounted on cards with the instruction “Apply to weapon when on maneuvers.”
Guinness Book, take note. Record breaking cookie sales. “It’s always been one of those goals I wanted to accomplish,” Sharpe said Wednesday.
So how crazy is this “get rich quick” story and how can anyone even believe they would get away with it? Well, it is crazy and the woman almost got away with it, as ridiculous as it sounds, except for a mistake she made. The point is she got caught not because someone actually investigated, she got caught because she was stupid enough to use someone else’s computer to type up her forgeries and not delete the BS letters when done. This is some sick shit, no one ever investigated or even tried to contact a doctor to see if the story was in fact real! Seems a state social worker got very lazy one day and decided to go on an extended sick leave. Now, she really wasn’t sick (well, maybe just sick in the head), so she made up a cancer, forged the papers and collected taxpayer money for doing so.
State Social worker accused of faking cancer to steal from state and how did she get caught? her own stupidity. She typed one of her forgeries on someone else’s computer and did not delete it. Every doctor’s name was made-up and all documents were forged. The woman since then has moved out of state and I gotta wonder if she will be allowed to get away with her cancer scam. The woman received $21,000 in paid leave after forging letters from doctors, prosecutors allege. ARLINGTON — When a state social worker announced she had malignant brain tumors, she received $21,000 in paid leave, lots of time off from work, and extra sick days generously donated by co-workers pulling for her in her fight against a terrifying disease. Turns out the tumors were only a sick ploy to steal from the state Department of Social and Health Services, prosecutors alleged Tuesday.
She’s now charged with first-degree theft. “She was fabricating a tragedy so she wouldn’t have to go to work,” Arlington Police Chief John Gray said. “She preyed on the generosity of her employer and co-workers.” The former Mountlake Terrace woman worked out of the Smokey Point DSHS office. The Arlington police investigation turned up a scheme that went way beyond faking the sniffles to take a three-day weekend, Gray said. Martinez was hired by the state as a social worker in October 2006, according to court records. Five months later she allegedly told her employer she had a brain tumor and began using medical leave and continued to get paid. Read the rest of this Government employee corruption story
At the moment, Government officials say around 10,000 people were killed by the 7.9-magnitude quake, but that figure is expected to change as more information on victims and survivors who are currently trapped becomes available. The massive quake struck Monday afternoon US time. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao traveled to the region to direct the rescue work and looked visibly shaken by the massive destruction and casualties of the quake. The destruction is so extensive that rescuers are running into difficulty trying to even get into some of the affected areas to begin rescue. Roads, rails, power lines, sewer systems and all public works are damaged or destroyed. According to local reports, at least six schools collapsed to some extent, trapping almost 900 students, teenagers, in the rubble. The source of this earthquake was reported to be in the Sichuan province. But tremors were felt all the way to Beijing, almost 1000 miles away. Reports say it was felt as far as Thailand and Vietnam.
Operation “Sudden Fall“, began a year ago after an overdose by a female student at the university, authorities said.
One alleged dealer was just a month away from earning a master’s degree in homeland security and had worked with the campus police as a security officer, officials said. Another student who was arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine and two guns was a criminal justice major, officials said. Kenneth Ciaccio, 19, a member of the Theta Chi fraternity, allegedly sent out a mass text-message to “faithful customers,” saying that he was traveling to Las Vegas and would not be able to make his normal cocaine sales, the DEA said. Have now heard about the huge drug bust at San Diego State University? If not, story is below. Nearly 100 students at San Diego State arrested in drug bust SAN DIEGO (AP) — Authorities say nearly 100 students have been arrested at San Diego State University on drug-related charges. Drugs, cash and guns were seized from sellers and buyers in the bust that followed a five-month undercover operation.
For anyone who does not know what a cyclone is… its a hurricane that spins in the opposite direction. The difference between a cyclone and a hurricane is the direction in which the winds spin. From the International Herald Tribune - The death toll from a powerful cyclone that struck Myanmar over the weekend rose to 22,500 on Tuesday, and foreign governments and aid organizations began mobilizing for a major relief operation. The number was the latest in a steadily escalating official toll since Cyclone Nargis struck early Saturday, devastating much of the fertile Irrawaddy Delta and the nation’s major city, Yangon. At a news conference in Yangon, the minister for relief and resettlement, Maung Maung Swe, said 41,000 people were still missing from the cyclone, which triggered a surge of water inland from the sea.
“More deaths were caused by the tidal wave than the storm itself,” the minister said, in the first official description of the destruction. “The wave was up to 12 feet high,” or 3.6 meters, “and it swept away and inundated half the houses in low-lying villages. They did not have anywhere to flee.” A spokesman for the United Nations World Food Program said that as many as one million people might have lost their homes and that some villages had been almost totally destroyed.
